Derecho a la vida. Miradas ecofeministas en el arte ecuatoguineano.

In April 2023 I went back to Equatorial Guinea. My second time there since our first trip in 2020. Little did I know then that the clay I collected and brought over to London would travel back to EG to be exhibited there.

In October 2024 opens Derecho a la vida. Miradas ecofeministas en el arte ecuatoguineano — an exhibition curated by Agnes Essonti Luque for the Spanish Cultural Centres in Bata and Malabo. A project aiming to give visibility to and legitimise the labour of the Equatoguinean women in the context of the current, most worrying global challenges: the climate and eco-social crisis and the loss of women’s herstories.

The trip to 2023 was very magical as I embodied the connection to EG I had been developing through clay. “Once there, the gap finally closed. I felt that connection and deepened it.” I wrote on a blog entry about the trip. This exhibition will allow me to connect further, not only with the land, but with its women.
